February Kid Quotes And Happenings

Penelope- It's my new look.

Justin told the kids they had to clean up before they could play games. Penelope didn't want to.
"I'm just going to the bathroom, baby girl."
Me- Who's a baby girl?
Penelope- Daddy. He is so not a 'bery' cute baby girl.
(And yes, she did go clean.)

Justin was in the kitchen heating up some food. Pennie told Alexa to play "gummy bear". (Horribly annoying kid song).
Pennie leaves the room. Minutes later, Nathaniel walks in. "WHY ARE YOU LISTENING TO THIS??"

The girls love the band Skillet, so one day we were talking about their songs and how Justin and I have seen them at concerts when we were younger. Nathaniel started naming their old albums, "Comatose".
Addie- Wait-- 'Call my toes'?

Pennie after we got into the car. "Somebody turn on the heat! I need some air, baby!"

A song came on the radio--I don't remember which one.
Pennie- I hate this song. I hatttteee thiiiisss song!
*chorus starts*
"Oooooh I love this song."

Addie found a daffodil in the yard-- "Mama, can you put this in our 'boufet' from Daddy?" (bouquet)

One night Justin and I were watching a show on Amazon. He couldn't figure out how to get the captions on. (A British show, so sometimes it's hard to understand what they say). He tried a couple different ways and then Nathaniel walked through the living room and Justin asked for his help. So Nathaniel took over, and did it right away, very first try. His response to our thank you, "You guys are so old." (because we didn't know how to do it)

Pennie- I'm so 'fashone'. (fashion, meaning fashionable)

*Dad joke of the month*
Justin- Guess what I saw at the shop today?!
Girls- WHAT?!
Justin- A fox!
Girls- COOL!
Justin- And guess what it said! Ring ning ning ning ning ning. (His version of the fox song)

Me- Pennie, you need to go play while we do school.
Pennie- Can you at least 'un-backwards' this? (Turn her mermaid tail blanket right side out)

Pennie- What is that thing with the red? And the blue 'readings'?
Justin- What? This?
Pennie- Yeah, with the blue readings. (A box way up high in the medicine cabinet that she saw when Justin had the cabinet door open. 'Readings' = words)

Addie- Can we watch a show with bed?
Justin- Ask Mama.
Gabrie- Of course she's gonna say no! She's a 'no' parent.
(She was right. The answer was no.)

Gabrie- I can't believe Julie might grow up somewhere completely different than us.
Justin- Pennie has grown up somewhere different than you. So has Addie.
Gabrie- That's true.
Pennie- Yeah, but I still get sweaty!

The kids are really into Napoleon Dynamite and after the movie, a cartoon version was made. Nathaniel goes around quoting it all the time and one of them is when Kip gets hurt, he says, "OUCH! You put some English on that one!"
So Addie, when she and her brother play fight says, "You put some 'language' on that one!"

Pennie asked for some candy corn. Justin asked her do you want two or zero?
Pennie- Zero! (And she excitedly went to grab a handful)

Nathaniel- You have an "As Seen On TV" thing? (Laughing at me, as if that's a nerdy thing to have)
Me- Yeah! I got it for 5 bucks at Wal-Mart. (Years ago and I just started using it the other day)
Nathaniel- Are you sure you didn't get it for 5 easy payments of $39.95? (Continues laughing at me)

Addie- Mama, isn't it good to let Julie read so she can learn more words?

Me- She can't really read yet though.
Addie- But if I hold it up for her, she can read in her head.

Gabrie- I've searched the whole house, top to bottom!
Lillie- Gabrie, we live in a one story house...

We packed a lot into the short, little month of February. We celebrated our anniversary, Justin's birthday, and we got to enjoy a rare snow day. Valentine's Day is not really that big of a deal to me, but I married a sweet man who made it special for all of his Valentines this year. He came home early with chocolates for the girls, sweet tea for Nathaniel, and roses for me (and the girls), and cooked an Italian dinner, complete with candles. He made mine and his "trim healthy mama" style which was
super sweet. (And delicious).

Oh, I did get a little in the "love spirit" by making heart-shaped pancakes for the kids. They were quite impressed ;)

The bigger kids and I did a little ice skating.

It was Addie's first time and she did great.

Justin took all his girls (except me and Juliette) on a date.

He spent a few hours with each girl over the weekend-- Addie chose Chick-Fil-A for breakfast, Wal-Mart to pick out a toy, and Chuck E. Cheese to play games. She wanted to go to Heb "for deodorant". I told her, "Addie, you don't need deodorant." She replied, "It's my date!"

After he and Addie were done, he came home to pick up Gabrie. They went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch, Wal-Mart  to pick out a toy, and Cinergy to play some games.

On Sunday, it was Lillie and Pennie's turn.

Lillie chose McDonald's for breakfast, Wal-Mart for a toy, and Chuck E. Cheese to play games. And then he came home for Pennie and she chose McDonald's for lunch, Wal-Mart for a toy, and Chuck E. Cheese to play games.

We did a little school at the library. We went for their reading program that allows kids to practice reading to dogs, but when we got there we found out the dog that "volunteers" had died so the program got cancelled. We'd planned on a change of scenery for school that day anyway, so we did some work and then went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. My dog lovers handled the sad news pretty well, thankfully.

Penelope watched a diy video with the girls about making different outfits, so she turned her pajama pants into a skirt. And wore it that way all day.
